Sayville resident Synthia Hinze was stopped at approximately 3:21 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21 on Montauk Highway in Bayport after she was clocked driving 75 mph in a posted 40 mph zone with no tail lights on, the Sheriff said. She was then slow to respond to deputies attempting to pull her over.
According to the Sheriff, Hinze failed multiple Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and she was taken into custody. At Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office Station 1, she submitted to a breathalyzer, which showed her blood alcohol content was .13 percent.
Hinze was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and cited for multiple traffic and vehicle infractions. She was later released and scheduled to appear in court at a later date to respond to the charge.
